When Data Misleads: Reframing Performance Trends Through Contextual Analysis is a scenario-based data analysis learning experience designed to explore how performance trends can be misunderstood when aggregate metrics are interpreted without sufficient context. Rather than teaching statistical techniques or presenting analytic “rules,” the experience immerses learners in a realistic decision-making scenario that requires interpretation, judgment, and disciplined reasoning.
The experience emphasizes how population composition, enrollment shifts, and structural context influence reported outcomes over time. It was intentionally designed as a non-graded, non-compliance learning experience, prioritizing analytical judgment and real-world decision transfer over technical instruction. The module is structured as a short, scenario-driven professional development experience rather than a traditional training course.

The experience simulates a performance review scenario in which declining results initially appear to signal a quality or effectiveness issue. Visual and interaction design decisions were made intentionally to support clarity, credibility, and analytical focus:

Burgundy accent (#5E1C27) reserved for analytical emphasis
Neutral grays used for structural and inactive elements
Minimal animation to support pacing without distraction
Clear hierarchy to guide interpretation
Navigation was designed to feel intentional and respectful of the learner’s judgment. The experience concludes with a clear end-state rather than a forced restart or completion screen.
